Several hundred people in military uniform rallying in Yerevan, demanding use of force to resolve Lachin corridor issue

YEREVAN. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Armenian police have begun mass detentions of protesters who gathered on Tuesday in front of the government building in the capital Yerevan to demand that force be used to open the Lachin corridor linking Armenia with Nagorno-Karabakh.

Detentions started after protesters began blocking central streets adjacent to the government building, an Interfax correspondent reported.

On Tuesday morning, several hundred people in military uniform gathered in front of the Armenian government headquarters, demanding that the country's authorities take measures to open the Lachin corridor for humanitarian cargo delivery. They called for using force to resolve the problem.

Activist Sargis Poghosyan, who presents himself as the commander of the Crusaders detachment, has organized the rally.
