KRASNOGORSK. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyev has said that he is going to the scene of an emergency in the town of Sergiyev Posad.
"As regards the incident in Sergiyev Posad, I'll be at the site shortly," Vorobyev said on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
Emergency services told Interfax that an explosion occurred at the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant at 10:45 a.m. Casualties have been reported.
A municipal administration spokesperson has confirmed that all of the plant's buildings and workshops, including leased ones, are being evacuated.
"There are very many buildings where windows were blown out," the spokesperson said.
The press service for the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's Moscow region branch confirmed the incident in remarks to Interfax.
"Information about an explosion at the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant, 212V, Red Army Avenue, Sergiyev Posad was received at 10:45 a.m.," the press service said.
