MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Russian forces used S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile systems to repel a mock enemy air raid during an exercise in Sakhalin, the press service for Russia's Eastern Military District said on Wednesday.
"During the drills, units operating S-400 air defense missile systems conducted training (electronic) launches, as a result of which the airborne targets were engaged," the military district said in a statement published on the Russian Defense Ministry's website.
"During the practical part of the exercise, after being alerted about an air border violation by mock enemy aircraft, the S-400 units practiced tracking, detecting and identifying the targets," it said.
The S-400 Triumf is a long-range air defense system, designed and produced by VKO Almaz-Antey.
