Over 50 seek medical aid following blast at fireworks warehouse in Sergiyev Posad - Moscow region governor

SERGIYEV POSAD, Moscow region. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Fifty-two people have sought medical aid, including six who are in intensive care and eight receiving inpatient treatment, following an explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Sergiyev Posad on Wednesday, the Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov said.

"There were [originally] five people in intensive care units, and one more has just been admitted. Doctors are fighting for the lives of two. Another eight people are receiving inpatient treatment," Vorobyov said on the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.

"A total of 52 people have required medical aid. Some have suffered minor concussions from the shock wave, and others are just shaken," he said.

Healthcare professionals are currently examining those hurt to decide whether some of them would have to be transported to specialized medical centers, he said.
