Thirty-five Ukrainian drones downed in special operation zone - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Nine missiles fired by HIMARS multiple rocket launchers were intercepted and 35 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

"Air defenses intercepted nine missiles fired by HIMARS multiple rocket launchers," Konashenkov said.

"Thirty-five Ukrainian drones were shot down near Olshana in the Kharkov region, Lisichansk and Kremennaya in the Lugansk People's Republic, Rovnopol, Nikolskoye and Orlinskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic, Chumatskoye in the Zaporozhye region, and Alyoshki in the Kherson region," he said.

Russian military aircraft, missile forces and artillery struck Ukrainian troops and military hardware in 132 areas, he said.

"A total of 458 Ukrainian planes, 245 helicopters, 5,600 unmanned aerial vehicles, 428 air defense missile systems, 11,204 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,144 multiple rocket launcher vehicles, 5,819 field artillery systems and mortars, and 12,155 special military vehicles have been destroyed since the start of the special military operation, Konashenkov said.
