MOSCOW. Aug 10 (Interfax) - Ukrainian drone attacks have been prevented over the Kaluga and Moscow regions and Sevastopol, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Two drones heading toward the city of Moscow were shot down by air defenses over the Maloyaroslavets district in the Kaluga region and over the Odintsovo district in the Moscow region. Two drones were struck by on-duty air defense forces near the city of Sevastopol and nine more were suppressed by electronic warfare systems and crashed into the Black Sea not reaching their target," the ministry said.
The thwarted attacks caused no casualties and destruction, the ministry said.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said earlier that two drones flying toward Moscow had been destroyed.
Kaluga Region Governor Vladislav Shapsha said later on his Telegram channel that air defenses downed a drone over the region's Maloyaroslavets district at 4:03 a.m.
"People and infrastructure were not affected," Shapsha said.
It was the ninth drone shot down in the Kaluga region since August 3.
