Bashkortostan starts forming 2nd special volunteer battalion

UFA. Aug 10 (Interfax) - The second special volunteer battalion named after Salavat Yulayev, which will take part in the special military operation within the Russian National Guard, is being formed in Russia's internal republic of Bashkortostan, the battalion said on Telegram.

"A long-awaited decision to establish the second battalion was made. [...] The new battalion will also operate within the National Guard," the statement said.

Bashkortostan formed the first special volunteer battalion last fall.

Three volunteer battalions were deployed from Bashkortostan to the special military operation zone in 2022.

Volunteer battalions to be part of the Bashkir Motorized Infantry Regiment began shakedown in April 2023. A new battalion is under formation.

Bashkortostan supplies the battalions with uniforms and gear. Bashkortostan's budget remunerates the volunteers with a one-off payment of 200,000 rubles in addition to 2,000 rubles per day after signing the contract and 200,000 rubles after every 180 days spent in the special military operation zone.
