MOSCOW. Aug 10 (Interfax) - Russian forces repelled 17 Ukrainian attacks in the Donetsk sector, seven in the Kupyansk sector and one in the Zaporozhye and Krasny Liman sectors each in the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Thursday.
"In the Donetsk sector, units from the southern group of forces, closely interacting with aircraft and artillery, have repelled 17 attacks by assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Belogorovka, Novomikhailovka and Artyomovsk in the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.
Another seven attacks of the enemy have been repelled in the Kupyansk sector, and one in the Zaporozhye and Krasny Liman sectors each, he said.
In the Donetsk sector, the enemy lost over 290 Ukrainian troops both killed and wounded, two armored combat vehicles, three trucks, two self-propelled artillery systems - a Polish-made Krab and an Akatsiya, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system and two D-20 howitzers, Konashenkov said.
"Seven counterattacks by units of the 14th and 44th Mechanized Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were repelled in the Kupyansk sector near Novosyolovskoye in the Lugansk People's Republic, Sinkovka and the Mankovka forest in the Kharkov region in the past 24 hours," he said.
In those areas, the enemy lost "over 55 Ukrainian troops, two armored combat vehicles, three trucks, an M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system and a M777 artillery system made in the United States," Konashenkov said.
"In the Zaporozhye sector, units of the Russian contingent, airstrikes and artillery fire repelled an attack by the 46th Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Uspenovka in the Zaporozhye region. Up to 125 Ukrainian troops were killed, and one tank, two armored combat vehicles, two trucks, three Msta-B howitzers, and D-20 and D-30 systems were destroyed," he said.
In the Krasny Liman sector, "units from the central group of forces, airstrikes and artillery fire repelled an attack by a strike team of the 21st Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Terny in the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.
"In that area, the enemy lost up to 60 Ukrainian troops, three armored combat vehicles, a Msta-B howitzer, and an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system," he said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, aircraft, artillery and units from the eastern group of forces repelled two attacks by assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Urozhainoye in the Donetsk People's Republic. Over the past day, the enemy lost over 130 Ukrainian troops, two armored combat vehicles, a Giatysint-S self-propelled artillery system and Msta-B and D-20 howitzers," Konashenkov said.
"In the Kherson sector, gunfire killed up to 30 Ukrainian troops and destroyed two pickup trucks, a D-30 howitzer, and a U.S.-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-mortar radar," he said.
