MOSCOW. Aug 10 (Interfax) - MiG-31 interceptor aircraft have conducted an air combat exercise in the Tver region, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"During a tactical rehearsal for repelling air attacks, MiG-31 fighter-interceptors searched for a mock airborne enemy and carried out simulated air-to-air missile launches," it said.
The planes are part of the Leningrad Air Force and Air Defense Army's tactical aviation, the ministry said.
The aircraft also practiced techniques for exiting a close-combat zone using advanced air maneuvers. Each crew played both an offensive and defensive role.
The air duels took place at low and medium altitudes and at a distance of several dozen kilometers, it said.
