Debris mostly cleared at Sergiyev Posad blast scene in Moscow region - administration

KRASNOGORSK. Aug 11 (Interfax) - The debris has been mostly cleared at the scene of an explosion at a fireworks warehouse near the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant in Sergiyev Posad, Moscow region, the urban district administration's press service said on Friday.

"The Investigative Committee is still working at the scene, and local specialists will continue to clear piles of bricks and broken metal structures later," the press service said.

Eight people are still missing.

"Twelve statements were filed by families several hours after the incident. Two families revoked their statements as time passed: their relatives did not happen to be at the incident scene and were found. One person was listed twice: he recently changed his name, and another person was found alive later that day. Thus, eight people are unaccounted for," the administration said.

In all, 84 people sought medical assistance after the explosion, and one of them died in hospital, it said.

As reported, an explosion rocked a rented fireworks warehouse near the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
