MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - Russian military has repelled Ukrainian attacks and counterattacks in five sectors of the special military operation over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday.
"In the Kupyansk sector, active defensive actions helped repel four attacks and counterattacks by units of the 32nd, 41st, 44th, and 67th Mechanized Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Novoselovskoye of the Lugansk People's Republic and near Sinkovka and the Mankovka land site of the Kharkov region," Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing.
"The enemy's losses [in the Kupyansk sector] amounted to over 165 Ukrainian troops, two armored fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer, and two AN/TPQ-50 weapon locating radar systems," Konashenkov said.
In the Donetsk sector, units of the southern group of forces interacting with air force and artillery units successfully repelled five attacks by assault groups of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade, the 79th Air Assault Brigade, the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade, and the 3rd Tank Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Nevelskoye, Belogorovka, Staromikhailovka, Maloilyinovka, and Veseloye of the Donetsk People's Republic, he said.
"Up to 180 Ukrainian troops were killed and seven infantry fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks, a combat vehicle of the Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile system, a U.S.-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, and two D-20 howitzers were destroyed over the past 24 hours," Konashenkov said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, actions by the eastern group of forces combined with air and artillery strikes disrupted the enemy's attempt at reconnaissance-in-force near Staromayorskoye of the Donetsk People's Republic and successfully repelled three attacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 72nd Mechanized Brigade and 38th Marine Brigade near Nikolskoye and Urozhainoye of the Donetsk People's Republic. Up to 35 Ukrainian troops were killed and two armored fighting vehicles, two automobiles, and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed," he said.
In the Zaporozhye sector, actions by Russian forces supported by air and artillery strikes repelled three attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 21st Mechanized Brigade near Uspenovka and Rabotino of the Zaporozhye region, killing up to 60 Ukrainian troops and destroying three automobiles and a D-30 howitzer, he said.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, well-coordinated actions of units of the central group of forces, as well as strikes by army aircraft, artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems [thermobaric rocket launchers], repelled two attacks by assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 68th Infantry Brigade and 42nd Mechanized Brigade near Novoyegorovka and Kremennaya of the Lugansk People's Republic. Over the past 24 hours, the enemy's losses included up to 115 Ukrainian troops, three armored fighting vehicles, and a D-20 howitzer," he said.
In the Kherson sector, up to 20 Ukrainian troops were killed and two pickup trucks, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, a D-20 howitzer, and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system were destroyed by gunfire, he said.
