Crimean resident detained for passing info about Russian military cargoes to Ukrainian special services - FSB

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - A resident of Crimea has been detained on suspicion of providing Ukrainian special services with information related to the organization and movement of Russian military cargoes, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said.

"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation thwarted the activities of a Russian citizen, born in 1965, a supporter of the Ukrainian nationalist ideology, who, acting on orders from Ukrainian special services, passed information about the organization and movement of military cargoes transported via Crimea to the zone of the special military operation," the FSB press center said on Tuesday.

The detained man "confirmed his collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine and revealed the coordinates of a cache, where a ready-to-use improvised explosive device containing plastic explosives equivalent to about one kilogram of TNT was found," it said.

The FSB branch for Crimea and Sevastopol has opened a criminal case on charges of illegal procurement, transfer, distribution, storage, transportation, or possession of explosive substances or explosive devices.

The man has been remanded in custody.

"All circumstances of the suspect's unlawful activities and his possible involvement in other crimes in the territory of the Russian Federation are being established," the press center said.
