KUBINKA, Moscow region. Aug 15 (Interfax) - The special military operation in Ukraine has become a serious test for the Russian Armed Forces, including due to the need to scrupulously examine the weapons being used by the Ukrainian army, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"The special military operation has become a serious test for the Russian army. We need to tackle challenging organizational, technical and operational tasks in a very short time, to scrupulously study the enemy's tactics and its weapons and troops control systems," Shoigu said at the Moscow Conference on International Security.
These efforts help upgrade the Russian army and enhance its combat potential, he said.
"The production of missile and artillery weapons, tanks and other armored hardware, unmanned aerial vehicles has been drastically increased within a short period of time. The need to enlarge the output of military hardware and ammunition in conditions of Western sanctions has given an additional impetus to the development of import substitution at defense industry facilities," Shoigu said.
