Moscow justice of peace fines Reddit 2 mln rubles over failure to remove fake info about special military operation, banned content

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - A Moscow justice of the peace has imposed a 2-million-ruble administrative fine on the Reddit network over failure to remove prohibited content, an Interfax correspondent said in a report.

"To impose an administrative fine of 2 million rubles on Reddit Inc.," Justice of the Peace of Judicial District No. 422 in Moscow's Tagansky District Timur Vakhrameyev said in his ruling.

Reddit was found guilty of not removing prohibited information.

According to materials in the administrative proceeding read out in court, Reddit was charged with not removing information about the ideology of the Arestantsky Uklad Edin (Universal Prison Order, AUE, banned in Russia as extremist and prohibited by court), socially significant information about the Russian special military operation in Ukraine designated as inaccurate by the Prosecutor General's Office, and some other prohibited information.

Reddit lawyers and representatives did not attend the hearing.
