KUBINKA, Moscow region. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Over 75,000 Ukrainian troops have been trained to NATO standards, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"According to statements by a number of senior NATO representatives, over 75,000 Ukrainian troops have been trained to Western standards," Shoigu said at the Moscow Conference on International Security.
"Many of them were sent to the frontline, were taken prisoner, and gave detailed accounts of NATO training methods. Most of their comments were negative," Shoigu said.
The information about training programs of Ukrainian servicemen is scrutinized and used for countering them, Shoigu said. "This experience is taken into account when elaborating programs for training foreign military specialists at our military schools," he said.
