U.S. significantly increases number of strategic aircraft flights near Russia's, China's borders - Russian military intelligence chief

KUBINKA, Moscow region. Aug 15 (Interfax) - The United States has drastically increased the number of flights of its strategic and reconnaissance aircraft near Russia's and China's borders, Igor Kostyukov, chief of the Russian General Staff's Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), said on Tuesday.

"The U.S. has considerably intensified the operation of its strategic bomber aircraft near Russia's and China's borders. It has performed 77 flights this year, which is more than over all of 2022," Kostyukov said at the Moscow Conference on International Security.

"The U.S. has increased the intensity of its strategic reconnaissance aircraft flights by more than 20% to 920 flights a year over the past two years," he said.
