KUBINKA, Moscow region. Aug 15 (Interfax) - The United States is planning to form two brigades armed with hypersonic and long-range cruise missiles in the Asia Pacific region, head of the Russian General Staff's Main Intelligence Department Igor Kostyukov said.
"The Pentagon is preparing to deploy two multi-purpose brigades in the Asia Pacific region in 2028. They will be capable of carrying out strikes using long-range precision-guided weapons, including hypersonic missiles with a range of 5,500 kilometers and ground-based Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of 2,400 kilometers," Kostyukov said at the Moscow Conference on International Security.
"The Japanese island of Iwo is being considered as a possible location for these weapons," he said.
