Baku denies Yerevan's report accusing it of firing on EU mission at provisional border

BAKU. Aug 15 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has denied an Armenian Defense Ministry report claiming that Azerbaijani army units opened fire on monitors from the European Union's mission and their automobiles in Yukhari Shorzha in the Basarkechar district at 12:20 p.m. on August 15.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry described Armenia's report as "another piece of disinformation."

"When EU monitors [in Armenia] travel towards the provisional border, the Azerbaijani side is notified of their travel route and coordinates, as well as the makes and license plates of their automobiles. Azerbaijani army units are informed about the mission's visits. Therefore, the situation which the Armenian Defense Ministry has claimed [took place] is impossible theoretically and practically," the ministry said.
