Ukrainian sabotage group's attempt to infiltrate Bryansk region thwarted, four saboteurs killed - FSB

MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - An attempt by Ukrainian saboteurs to infiltrate the Starodub district of Russia's Bryansk region has been thwarted, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has said.

"The Russian Federal Security Service and attached forces of the Russian Defense Ministry have suppressed an attempt by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group to infiltrate the territory of the Russian Federation in the Starodub border district of the Bryansk region," the FSB said.

Four saboteurs were killed during the engagement, the FSB's public relations center said.

"FPV drones with stickers 'Property of the Federal Security Service of Russia' and Russian symbols were discovered at the scene of the clash, along with foreign weapons, explosive devices, and communication and navigation devices, which reveals the preparations [made] for provocations and acts of sabotage on Russian territory," the FSB said.

The FSB's public relations center did not specify when the clash took place.

An attempt by Ukrainian saboteurs to infiltrate the region was foiled, Bryansk region Governor Alexander Bogomaz said yesterday.

An employee of an agricultural enterprise was injured in the Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group's attempt to infiltrate the region, he said.
