YEREVAN. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has discussed the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh in a telephone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the imperative to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from Azerbaijan's 8-month-long illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor and the ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh," the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service said.
Ahead of the upcoming emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday, Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the effective use of existing mechanisms and specific steps aimed at the immediate end of the Lachin corridor's blockade in accordance with provision 6 of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan of November 9, 2020, and the International Court of Justice decisions of February 22 and July 6, 2023, the ministry said.
