Training with simulated launches of Iskander systems held in Kaliningrad region - Baltic Fleet

MOSCOW. Aug 17 (Interfax) - Iskander mobile ballistic missile systems have held an exercise involving individual and group strikes in the Kaliningrad region, the Baltic Fleet's press service said on Thursday.

"During the exercise, units conducted training (simulated) launches individually and in groups against targets representing mock enemy command posts," it said.

Some 100 troops and around 10 pieces of military and special hardware were used, it said.

"The Iskander mobile ballistic missile systems practiced loading the missiles into their launch systems, crossing a contaminated area, [and] repelling [an attack by] a mock enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group," the press service said.

The Iskander mobile ballistic missile system was developed by the Kolomenskoye Machine-Building Design Bureau (High Precision Systems, part of Rostec). The system comprises two types of missiles, ballistic and cruise versions. The official range of Iskander-M missiles is up to 500 km.
