More than 1,000 Tajik troops undergo training at Russian base

YEKATERINBURG. Aug 17 (Interfax) - Junior specialists of the Tajik army have studied theoretical and practical aspects of military operations at Russia's 201st military base, the Central Military District's press service said.

"The average training course lasted about three months, with more than 1,000 servicemen from Tajikistan trained in 2023," the press service said.

The training in 14 specialties took place at the Sambuli and Laur firing ranges, it said. In particular, the troops were trained to work as mechanics and drivers, T-72 tank operators, commanders of BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems, gunners for 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems and BTR-80 armored vehicles, gunners and operators of BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, and as reconnaissance officers and grenade launcher operators.

Shooting practice took place at the end of the training.

Russian servicemen have been training specialists for the Tajik Armed Forces since 2015.
