Thirty-five percent of Russians name special military operation last week's most important event - poll

MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Thirty-five percent of Russian citizens polled in a recent public opinion survey consider the special military operation the most important event of last week, the Public Opinion Foundation said in a statement on its website on Friday.

Such respondents explained their answer in terms of the need to ensure national security, as well as sympathy for special military operation participants.

The other most significant events of last week include shifts in the ruble exchange rate, the launch of the Luna 25 lunar spacecraft, and the situation in Niger.

The Public Opinion Foundation polled 1,500 respondents aged 18 and over in 104 communities in 53 regions of Russia on August 11-13, 2023.
