MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax) - The Russian Justice Ministry on Friday added seven individuals to the register of foreign agents, including publicist Andrei Piontkovsky and economist Andrei Illarionov, the ministry said.
"Piontkovsky, who currently resides outside of Russia, has opposed the special military operation in Ukraine and spread false information about decisions adopted by the public authorities of the Russian Federation and policies pursued by them," the Justice Ministry said.
Piontkovsky also took part in creating and spreading information materials authored by foreign agents among an indefinite circle of people, it said.
In addition to Piontkovsky, the ministry has added authors Tatyana Sotnikova and Linor Goralik, human rights activist Sergei Krivenko, and activists Vladimir Dovdanov and Syrgylana Kondakova to the register for similar reasons.
Economist Andrei Illarionov has also been included in the list.
"Illarionov took part in the dissemination of reports and materials of foreign agents, and false information about decisions adopted by public authorities of the Russian Federation and policies pursued by them among an indefinite circle of persons. He participated as a respondent on media platforms provided by foreign mass media," the ministry said.
Illarionov also currently resides outside of Russia, the ministry said.
