"This is the first visit of Russian ships to China after the lifting of restrictions that were in effect between Russia and China during the coronavirus pandemic," the press service said.
"The Russian unit arrived at the Chinese port of Qingdao after completing the third joint patrol of the Russian Navy and the Navy of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) in the Pacific," it said.
Russian Charge d'Affaires ad Interim in China Ivan Zhelokhovtsev was the first to welcome the Russian sailors.
Once the ships moored, Commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet's Primorye Combined-Arms Flotilla Rear Adm. Valery Kazakov met with Vice Adm. Wang Dazhong, Navy commander at the PLA's Northern Theater Command, on the pier, the press service said.
"The unit of the Pacific Fleet will stay in Qingdao until August 24. The working visit will include joint cultural and sporting events for sailors from both countries. The cultural program for the Russian sailors envisages a sightseeing tour of Qingdao," it said.
