Russian Baltic Fleet fighter jets train at shooting down border trespassers

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Sukhoi Su-27 marine aviation fighter jets have trained in engaging a mock enemy, the Russian Baltic Fleet said on Monday.

"In line with the exercise scenario, mock enemy planes infringed the Russian Federation's state border and tried to launch bombs and missiles at strategic military sites," the fleet's press service said.

"Having been notified of an airspace violation by unidentified aircraft, Su-27 fighter jets were scrambled to intercept. They tracked down and identified the mock enemy aircraft before destroying them in action," it said.

The scheduled exercise involved more than ten Su-27 aircraft, the press service said.
