Russian air defense downs Ukrainian Su-25 in DPR

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Russian forces have downed a Ukrainian Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"Air defense has downed a Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force near Staroraiskoye in the DPR," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Monday.

Three projectiles fired by Uragan multiple rocket launchers and HIMARS high mobility artillery rocket systems were intercepted during the day, he said.

"Russian tactical aircraft, army aviation, missile forces and artillery hit the enemy's troops and military hardware in 167 areas," Konashenkov said.

Thirty-six Ukrainian drones were destroyed in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and the Kherson region, he said.

"In total, 462 planes, 246 helicopters, 5,913 unmanned aerial vehicles, 431 air defense missile systems, 11,426 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,144 multiple rocket launchers, 5,969 artillery vehicles and mortars, and 12,357 special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation," Konashenkov said.
