MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Russian forces have repelled 14 Ukrainian attacks in a number of sectors of the special military operation zone in the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"In the Zaporozhye sector, joint actions by Russian troops backed by missile forces, artillery, heavy flamethrowers and aircraft repelled five attacks by units of the 82nd Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strategic reserves near Rabotino in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Monday.
Another nine enemy attacks were repelled in other sectors, he said.
"In the Kupyansk sector [...] four attacks by units from the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 25th Airborne Brigade, the 95th Air Assault Brigade and the 14th Mechanized Brigade were repelled near Sinkovka in the Kharkov region and Novosyolovskoye in the Lugansk People's Republic [LPR]. An ammo distribution point of a unit of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade was destroyed near Stelmakhovka in the LPR," Konashenkov said.
"The enemy lost up to 160 troops, five armored combat vehicles, two trucks, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, a U.S.-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, an Akatsiya howitzer, and two U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-mortar radars," he said.
An ammo depot of the Ukrainian 65th Mechanized Brigade was destroyed near Omelnik in the Zaporozhye region, Konashenkov said.
In the Zaporozhye sector, the enemy "lost over 80 troops, three infantry vehicles, four trucks, as well as British-made FH-70, D-20 and D-30 howitzers, two U.S.-made M119 systems, and a U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-mortar radar," he said.
In the Donetsk sector, "operations by units from the southern group of forces, supported with strikes by army aviation and artillery, repelled three Ukrainian attacks near Krasnogorovka and Nevelskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," Konashenkov said.
"Over the past day, the enemy lost up to 225 troops both killed and wounded, two infantry vehicles, three armored combat vehicles, four trucks, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, Msta-B and D-30 howitzers, and a U.S.-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-mortar radar," he said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, units from the Russian eastern group of forces, supported by tactical aircraft and aviation, defeated Ukrainian units near Staromayorskoye and Urozhainoye in the DPR. In that area, the enemy lost up to 110 troops, two armored combat vehicles, two trucks, self-propelled artillery systems [including] British-made AS-90 Braveheart and Nona-S, and a U.S.-made M777 artillery system," Konashenkov said.
In the Krasny Liman sector, units from the central group of forces, supported by attack aircraft and army aviation, repelled two enemy attacks near Chervonaya Dibrova in the LPR, Konashenkov said. Units of the Ukrainian 42nd, 63rd and 67th Mechanized Brigades and the 95th Air Assault Brigade were shelled near Yampolovka, Serebryanka and Grigorovka in the DPR. "Up to 75 Ukrainian troops were killed, and two armored combat vehicles, three pickup trucks and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed," Konashenkov said.
In the Kherson sector, gunfire killed up to 45 Ukrainian troops and destroyed eight trucks and two 120mm mortars over the past day, he said.
