MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax) - A grouping of the Northern Fleet's all-arms strike forces has conducted an exercise in destroying mock enemy surface groups in the Barents Sea, the Fleet's press service said on Monday.
"On receiving target guidance from Air Force and Air Defense aircraft, the surface strike group in the Northern Fleet's combat-training areas, in coordination with a battalion of the Bastion coastal-defense missile system positioned at a launch site on the coast of Kola Peninsula, carried out a concentrated missile strike against a complex target in the Barents Sea posing as a mock enemy surface group," the statement said.
The anti-ship cruise missile was fired by the Admiral Ushakov destroyer.
"The destroyer carried out the missile launch against the target from the maximum distance. The Moskit anti-ship missile hit the target with pre-determined accuracy, thus proving once again its high tactical-technical and fighting characteristics," the Fleet said.
The Marshal Ustinov battlecruiser and the Bastion system simulated firing cruise missiles against the same target, it said.
The drill involved the Admiral Ushakov destroyer, the Admiral Ustinov battlecruiser, the Bastion battalion, and the Air Force and Air Defense Army aviation.
