MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - Israeli Air Force F-16 fighter jets delivered a strike on the infrastructure of the Al-Nairab airfield in the Syrian city of Aleppo, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Rear Adm. Vadim Kulit said on Monday.
"Four F-16 tactical fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force delivered a strike on the infrastructure of the Al-Nairab airfield while flying over the Mediterranean Sea and without entering Syria's airspace," Kulit said.
The strikes continued from 4:20 a.m. to 4:27 a.m. on August 28, he said.
"The concrete runway surface was partly damaged as a result of the Israeli airstrike. The airport's operations were not disrupted," Kulit said.
Israeli media outlets reported earlier, citing a Syrian Defense Ministry source, that the Aleppo international airport halted operations following an airstrike by Israel.
The airport's runways were damaged, the media said.
