MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - Moscow's Basmanny District Court has sentenced journalist Michael Nacke (designated as a foreign agent in Russia) and founder of the Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT, an OSINT project designated as an undesirable organization in Russia) Ruslan Leviev (real name Karpuk) to 11 years in prison each in absentia for spreading false information on the Russian Armed Forces, the court told Interfax on Tuesday.
"The court ultimately ordered that Nacke and Karpuk be sentenced to 11 years in a general security penitentiary each," the court said.
The court also banned Nacke and Karpuk from administering websites for five years.
The duration of their imprisonment would start being counted from the moment of their detention in Russian territory or their extradition to Russia, the court said.
The court found the two guilty of two counts of public dissemination of knowingly false information on the employment of the Russian Armed Forces by presenting it as truthful.
The criminal case concerns a YouTube video featuring Nacke and Leviev.
