Moscow City Court upholds Strelkov's arrest on counts of calls for extremism

MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - The Moscow City Court has upheld the arrest of Igor Strelkov (Girkin), a former leader of the Donetsk militia, on counts of calling for extremism, an Interfax correspondent reported.

"The ruling by Moscow's Meshchansky District Court of July 21, 2023, which places Girkin under arrest until September 18, 2023, is upheld, and the appeals are dismissed," the court said.

Strelkov's defense asked the appeal court to overrule the lower-tier court's order and to choose a milder measure of restraint.
