Presidential Human Rights Council members to observe elections in 12 Russian regions - Fadeyev

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Members of the Russian Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights will observe elections in 12 Russian regions in September, Council Chairman Valery Fadeyev said.

"We will be working in 12 constituent territories of the Russian Federation on the voting days. In particular, we have arranged for the commission to observe online voting, and will be working in pre-trial detention facilities," Fadeyev said at a meeting of the Russian Central Elections Commission on Wednesday.

Meetings have been held with human rights commissioners, the heads of civil headquarters for election observation, and civil chamber heads in 13 regions of Russia, Fadeyev said.

Election campaigns at various levels will be held in Russia on September 8-10, 2023. This includes elections for the heads of 21 constituent territories and local legislatures. Over 4,000 election campaigns will take place in 85 Russian constituent territories. Around 34,000 legislature members and officials will be elected, with about 65 million voters eligible to cast their ballots.
