Russian cosmonaut Borisov becomes ERA robotic arm operator aboard ISS - Roscosmos

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Russian cosmonaut Andrei Fedyayev has handed over his duties for operating the European Robotic Arm (ERA) on board the International Space Station (ISS) to Konstantin Borisov, Roscosmos said on Wednesday.

The crew members carried out "the transfer of the shift for performing operations with the ERA between Andrei Fedyayev and Konstantin Borisov, as well as his familiarization with auxiliary computer systems," Roscosmos said in a statement about the work of the cosmonauts onboard the ISS for August 29.

In April, Fedyayev used the ERA robotic arm for the first time for work outside the station. The robotic arm moved a radiation heat exchanger from the Rassvet module to the Nauka module of the ISS's Russian segment. During a spacewalk in May, the robotic arm moved the airlock from Rassvet to Nauka. The robotic arm also performed a test relocation of cosmonaut Sergei Prokopyev in a work chair while outside the station in August.

On August 27, the Crew Dragon 7 crew with Roscosmos cosmonaut Borisov arrived at the ISS. He is expected to spend six months on board the station. Fedyayev's mission to the ISS is coming to an end, and the Crew Dragon 6 spacecraft is scheduled to undock at 4:05 p.m. Moscow time on September 2. The spacecraft is expected to touch down off the coast of Florida, in the U.S., on September 3, no earlier than 7:58 a.m. Moscow time.
