MOSCOW. Aug 31 (Interfax) - Russian forces have repelled five Ukrainian attacks in the Kupyansk and Zaporozhye sectors each, alongside six attacks in the Donetsk sector and two in the Krasny Liman sector, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"In the past 24 hours, five counterattacks by assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 68th Jaeger Brigade and 32nd and 43rd Mechanized Brigades were repelled near Sergeyevka and Novoyegorovka in the Lugansk People's Republic [LPR]," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Thursday.
Units from the western group of forces improved their frontline positions with support from aircraft and artillery in the Kupyansk sector, he said.
In that area, Ukrainian forces lost up to 50 troops, two trucks, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, and two D-20 howitzers.
"In the Donetsk sector, units from the southern group of forces interacting with aircraft and artillery repelled six attacks by assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bogdanovka, Andreyevka, Mayorsk and Avdeyevka in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," Konashenkov said.
There, Ukrainian forces lost up to 365 troops, three U.S.-made Bradley infantry vehicles, two armored personnel carriers, 32 trucks, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, and D-20 and D-30 howitzers, he said.
"In the Zaporozhye sector, units of the Russian contingent supported by airstrikes, artillery and heavy flamethrowers repelled five attacks by the Ukrainian 82nd Air Assault Brigade near Verbovoye in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.
Ukrainian forces lost up to 85 troops, two trucks, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, a Czech-made Vampire multiple rocket launcher, and three D-30 howitzers in that area, he said.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, operations by the central group of forces supported by army aviation, artillery and heavy flamethrowers repelled two attacks by assault units of the Ukrainian 67th Mechanized Brigade near Chervonaya Dibrova in the LPR," Konashenkov said.
"The enemy lost up to 55 troops, three armored combat vehicles, and Msta-B and D-30 howitzers," he said.
In the southern Donetsk sector, combined strikes were delivered against concentrations of Ukrainian troops and hardware near Staromayorskoye and Urozhainoye in the DPR, he said.
"The enemy lost up to 100 troops, four trucks, two Msta-B howitzers, and a U.S.-made M119 system," he said.
Five ammo depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed in the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics and in the Kherson region, Konashenkov said.
"In the Kherson sector, gunfire killed up to 20 Ukrainian troops and destroyed two trucks and two D-30 howitzers," he said.
"An ammo depot of the Ukrainian 47th Mechanized Brigade was hit near Orekhov," Konashenkov said.
