Reconnaissance troops find, destroy militant training center during CSTO exercise in Belarus

MINSK. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Reconnaissance troops have trained at destroying a militant training center during the Combat Brotherhood 2023 exercise of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Belarus, the CTV state-run television channel said on Monday.

"Reconnaissance troops successfully determined the coordinates of the militant training center. The target was hit from both the ground and the air," the channel said.

"Another element of the CSTO exercise was practiced at the Obuz-Lesnovsky range [near Baranovichi in the Brest region of Belarus bordering Poland]. The search for enemy sites lasted three days. Drones were used to reconnoiter the area at very low altitudes. The militants' stronghold was found and destroyed by helicopters assisted by a fire support team. The operations of a battery of Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems were a success," it said.

Belarus is hosting the CSTO Combat Brotherhood 2023 strategic exercise, which involves 2,500 troops and over 500 pieces of hardware, on September 1-6.
