YEREVAN. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Armenia is not an anti-Russian tool being used to oust the country from the South Caucasus region, Ruben Rubinyan, deputy speaker of the Armenian parliament, said on national television.
"There is no logic in the claim that Armenia is an anti-Russian tool. There's not a single fact attesting to this, and there can be no truthful analysis attesting to this," Rubinyan said.
Armenia has always sought to avoid geopolitical confrontation and has always honored its allied obligations, he said.
"There is no need for normalizing relations with Russia, as the Armenian-Russian relations have not been damaged," Rubinyan said.
On Monday, a Russian diplomatic source said that "attempts are being made to oust Russia from the South Caucasus, using Yerevan as a tool to attain this goal."
