Krasnodar Territory resident detained on suspicion of attempt to join Ukrainian Armed Forces - FSB

MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) - The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported the detention of a Krasnodar Territory resident on suspicion of attempting to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Search and investigative activities have determined that, in order to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a Russian citizen initiated contact with a Ukrainian Security Service officer in charge of recruiting and training volunteers to fight against the Russian Armed Forces," the FSB said on Tuesday.

The suspect was detained while attempting to leave for Ukraine, it said.

"The FSB investigative directorate for Krasnodar Territory has opened and is investigating a criminal case on a count of high treason in the form of defecting to an enemy, which is covered by Article 30, Part 1, and Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code," it said.
