Russian diplomats in N. Korea to undergo rotation once Covid-19 restrictions lifted - Russian Foreign Ministry

JAKARTA. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Russian diplomatic personnel stationed in North Korea will undergo rotation as soon as North Korea lifts Covid-19 restrictions, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said.

"When North Korea officially announces the end of anti-epidemic restrictions, the issue will be solved quite fast. People have been trained," Rudenko told reporters.

In February, Rudenko said he said he was hopeful Pyongyang would find a solution to the forced freeze of the Russian diplomats' rotation in North Korea.

"Indeed, for the past three years, Russian diplomats in Pyongyang have been experiencing problems caused by the remaining strict Covid-19 restrictions imposed by the North Korean authorities in February 2020," Rudenko told Interfax.

The restrictions included a complete ban on arrivals and a suspension of regular traffic to and from neighboring countries, including Russia, he said.
