WASHINGTON. Sept 8 (Interfax) - The United States will provide Ukraine with another assistance package totaling $600 million, which includes equipment for Ukrainian air defense and artillery munitions, the U.S. Department of Defense deputy spokesperson Sabrina Singh said on Thursday.

"Today, the department announced a new security assistance package through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative to support Ukraine's battlefield needs. This $600 million package includes equipment to augment Ukraine's air defenses, artillery munitions and other capabilities," Singh said at a press briefing.

The package consists of ammunition for HIMARS high mobility artillery rocket systems, 105mm artillery munitions, electronic warfare systems and counter-jamming systems, blasting and demining equipment, and supplies and equipment for training Ukrainian troops, the DoD press release said.

While visiting Kiev the day before, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Washington would allot another $1 billion to Ukraine, including $665 million for military and security assistance. The U.S. security assistance provided to Kiev since the start of the Russian special military operation tops $43 billion, he said.

Later that day, the Pentagon announced a $175-million military assistance package, including depleted uranium ammunition for Abrams tanks, HIMARS projectiles, 155mm and 105mm artillery munitions, and 81mm mortars with ammunition.
