MOSCOW. Sept 8 (Interfax) - Police have detained activists of the White Color (Belaya Mast) neo-Nazi group plotting a series of grave crimes in Russian regions, Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk said.
"The Russian Interior Ministry's Main Department for Countering Extremism, working together with security services, the Russian Investigative Committee, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service and the Russian National Guard, have put an end to the activity of the leaders of the White Color neo-Nazi group, members of which were in contact with foreign right-wing radical organizations. According to the preliminary information, group members were plotting a series of grave crimes, including those against national interests, in the Russian territory," Volk told reporters on Friday.
Active members of the criminal group were detained in several Russian constituent territories, she said. Some of them were earlier convicted of grave crimes, including extremism.
"Nazi symbols, attributes and materials were found during searches. Presumably, cold steel, weapons with limited firepower, training weapons and ammunition were seized," Volk said.
Investigators opened a criminal case on counts of public calls for terrorism or terrorist propaganda, as well as public calls for extremism, and incitement to enmity or hatred.
The defendants were taken into custody.
