MOSCOW. Sept 8 (Interfax) - The Kherson regional elections commission has been evacuated due to a missile attack warning, deputy head of the Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC) Nikolai Bulayev said.
"A missile attack warning has been issued in Kherson, so the regional elections commission has had to evacuate to an alternate location where communication service is unavailable," Bulayev said at the CEC information center on Friday.
CEC head Ella Pamfilova confirmed the evacuation of the regional elections commission. "The thing is that the situation is changing there. The commission has had to evacuate in the Kherson region," she said.
Election campaigns of various levels are taking place in Russia on September 8-10, 2023. Over 4,000 campaigns are in progress in 85 constituent territories. Over 33,000 deputies and officials are due to be elected. The number of eligible voters nears 67 million.
