Military drills involving U.S., Romanian troops to start in Moldova on Sept 10

CHISINAU. Sept 8 (Interfax) - The Scutul de Foc/Rapid Trident 2023 multinational combined military exercise will begin in Moldova on Sunday, the country's Defense Ministry said.

The drills, which are part of the national army's training plan for 2023, will involve about 500 Moldovan, Romanian and U.S. servicemen, the ministry said. Engineer units, infantry weapons and artillery systems of the Moldovan Armed Forces will also take part in them.

"The exercise, which will last until September 22, includes infantry and artillery drills and is aimed at developing the capabilities of the participating armies and raising the level of operational compatibility between them," it said.

The last exercise of Moldovan Armed Forces reservists planned for this year will be held on September 25-29, the Defense Ministry said earlier.
