BAKU/YEREVAN. Sept 8 (Interfax) - Tensions are growing in areas adjacent to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the Armenian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"The Armenian Defense Ministry conducted another briefing with foreign military attaches and representatives accredited in the Republic of Armenia on September 8. During the briefing, the military attaches were informed about the operational situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border," the ministry said.
"Over the past two days, the situation has been tense because of the concentration of Azerbaijani forces. Therefore, the Armenian Armed Forces are continuing to take the necessary actions to stabilize it and prevent provocations," it said.
Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that it disrupted a third attempt by the Armenian military to install fortifications in the Karabakh economic area.
"At 7:05 p.m. on September 8, Armenian illegal armed units in Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily stationed, attempted to install permanent fortifications in front of the Azerbaijani army's position in the vicinity of the Shusha district," it said.
The work was stopped owing to measures taken by the Azerbaijani army, it said.
