SBU saboteurs plotting terrorist attacks on railway detained in Belarus

MINSK. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Belarusian State Security Committee has detained three groups of saboteurs working for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and planning terrorist attacks on railways in Belarus, the BelTA state agency said on Monday.

"The State Security Committee has detained three combat cells in Belarus that worked for the Security Service of Ukraine. They plotted terrorist attacks on railways in the Stovbtsy and Talachyn districts. Explosives and detonators were taken from them when they were detained," it said.

One of the offenders preparing a blast on a railway in the Stovbtsy district contacted the SBU on his own initiative. He drew his former colleague into planning the terrorist attack.

"An attempt to blow up a railway in the Talachyn district was led by a citizen of Ukraine. To carry out the terrorist attack, he recruited two Belarusians with blasting skills," the agency said.

The State Security Committee thwarted the terrorist attacks.

All detainees are at the State Security Committee's detention facility and are making confessions, the committee said.
