Traffic to resume on Crimean Bridge's damaged section on Sept 15 - Russian deputy PM

MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The damaged section of the Crimean Bridge may reopen to traffic on September 15 after repairs, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said.

"I think that we will resume traffic on the damaged part on September 15," Khusnullin said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel on Monday, when speaking about the restoration of the Crimean Bridge.

Crimea head Sergei Aksyonov said in the early hours of July 17, 2023, that "an incident" had occurred near the 145th support of the Crimean Bridge from the direction of Krasnodar Territory. The National Antiterrorism Committee said that the bridge had been attacked by two Ukrainian naval drones.

Two residents of the Belgorod region were killed and their underage daughter was injured. A criminal case was opened on counts of committing a terror attack.

The bridge supports remained intact, so rail traffic resumed in the morning of July 17. Road traffic resumed on one lane in alternating directions on July 18.
