VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 12 (Interfax) - As many as 270,000 people have voluntarily signed contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry over the past six months, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"We carried out a partial mobilization. A total of 300,000 people were called up. Now, over the past 6-7 months, 270,000 people have voluntarily signed contracts to serve in the Armed Forces and volunteer units," Putin said at a plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum.
"This process is continuing, with about 1,000 to 1,500 people signing contracts every day," he said.
