Russian Foreign Ministry planning to appoint new ambassador to Japan

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Moscow is planning to appoint a new ambassador to Japan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said on Tuesday.

"Of course, we will," Rudenko told reporters on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

As to whether there is a candidate, Rudenko said, "No comment until we get the final agreement."

Mikhail Galuzin was relieved of his duties as the Russian ambassador to Japan in November 2022.
