Total of 270,000 people sign contracts with Russian Defense Ministry in past 6 months - Putin (Part 2)

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 12 (Interfax) - As many as 270,000 people have voluntarily signed contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry over the past six months, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"We carried out a partial mobilization. A total of 300,000 people were called up. Now, over the past 6-7 months, 270,000 people have voluntarily signed contracts to serve in the Armed Forces and volunteer units," Putin said at a plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum.

"This process is continuing, with about 1,000 to 1,500 people signing contracts every day," the president said after being asked by the session moderator whether there are plans for a new wave of mobilization in Russia.
