VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Russia will continue mutual transactions with India in their national currencies, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said.
"This was not an issue at all. Rather, we are going to continue payments in national currencies," Rudenko told reporters in Vladivostok on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in response to the relevant question from Interfax.
"The matter was discussed in general. The Indians confirmed that they realize the seriousness of this problem, are aware of it and will offer us different options," he said.
"As regards investments, it is just one of the avenues, but there are also other options for using this mass of rupees," Rudenko said.
In India, "there is vast room for applying our investors' efforts, the economy is developing," he said after being asked to elaborate on these projects.
"I am certain that specific projects will be proposed," Rudenko said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that India had promised to offer Russia prospective fields in which billions of rupees accumulated in Russian companies' accounts could be invested.
